With over 38 years of extensive experience in occupational safety, ground, weapons, and explosives safety, risk management, and leadership — including 26 years of active duty in the United States Air Force — I bring a comprehensive and proven ability to protect personnel, equipment, and operations across high-risk environments. I founded Smith Safety Solutions LLC with a mission to help organizations create safer, more compliant workplaces., I bring a deep, hands-on understanding of occupational safety across multiple high-risk industries. For 8 years, I served as a Compliance Officer with the U.S. Department of Labor (OSHA), conducting investigations and inspections across construction, general industry, agriculture, and logging. During that time, I investigated over 100 serious accidents and fatalities, developing extensive expertise in accident causation, prevention strategies, and regulatory compliance. Over the past 4 1/2 years, I have continued my career as an Occupational Safety Specialist with the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation (US DOI/BOR), and most recently as an Occupational Safety Manager with the United States Air Force. My experience spans federal, military, and civilian sectors, allowing me to provide comprehensive safety solutions, risk assessments, program development, and leadership that help organizations protect their workforce and achieve full regulatory compliance. Those moments stay with me, and they drive my passion to prevent such tragedies from ever happening again.
